Why not a chatbot

Why not just use ChatGPT?

A general chatbot is very good at one half of this job: it writes a tidy itinerary in seconds. Travel & Beyond starts where that itinerary ends. The short version: the AI does the thinking, and a named human does the promising. Everything below is the detail behind that sentence, and every price a traveller sees from us is a real trade-side quote, never an AI estimate.

Four things a general chatbot cannot deliver, because each one lives outside the chat window.

  1. One

A plan is not a trip.

A chatbot stops at the plan. Holding a room, confirming a fare, taking payment and fixing a problem are all things that happen after the plan, and they need a seat in the trade. A general chatbot has no seat in it, so the plan it writes can look perfect and stay imaginary. We take the plan into the trade and make it real.

  2. Two

A named human carries the accountability.

Every package hands over to Lizanne van Niekerk, a named travel consultant in the Envoyage network. She issues the binding quote, makes the booking and takes payment through her trade back-office. That means consumer-protection accountability, refunds when things break, and someone who answers the phone when a flight is cancelled at six in the morning. Nobody hands a large booking to a chatbot.

  3. Three

Live verification is the product, not a wrapper.

Nothing reaches you as fact unless it was verified live at the moment we send it: real availability, real price, still open, right season. Anything unverified carries the label "example, subject to live confirmation", and if a fact cannot be verified, we say so instead of filling the gap. That is the part a chatbot cannot do, because it has no live trade line to check against.

  4. Four

The WhatsApp line does not close at booking.

Pre-trip documents and reminders, live flight status and disruption alerts while you travel, and a human who rebooks on your behalf when something goes wrong. A chatbot cannot hold the seat, cannot book the change, and carries no responsibility if you are left standing at a cancelled gate. The process, step by step, is on after you book.

The questions this page exists to answer, answered the way we would answer them on WhatsApp.

So is the plan written by AI or by a person?

Both, in sequence, and we say which is which. The planning assistant is AI-assisted and it says so in its first message. The itinerary, the options and the indicative pricing come from that lane. The binding quote, the booking and the payment always come from Lizanne, a named human consultant, and the site never pretends otherwise.

Are the prices I see real?

They are indicative planning ranges until a human confirms the live price. An indicative range is built from the trade's published pricing with the right routing, room type and seat bucket for your dates. It is not a price, nothing is reserved by asking, and the live number is what the trade confirms in writing before anything is charged.

Who actually books and takes my money?

Lizanne, the named travel consultant, through her usual trade back-office. Travel & Beyond never takes payment and never holds your money. Deposits and balances go to the trade, and no card details are taken anywhere on this site.

Do you claim the AI booked anything?

No, and that claim is never made anywhere. The assistant does not imply that it booked, reserved, held or paid for anything. It qualifies your trip and hands over. Booking is the human lane, every time.

What does this cost me?

Nothing. The planning lane is free to the traveller, and the copy says why: we earn a flat referral fee from the trade on completed bookings only. See what it costs for the full detail.

How quickly does a human take over?

Within 24 hours of handoff, and always before the binding quote. Your first reply comes the same working day. See how it works for the three steps, or start with where South Africans are going.

What we promise, and what we do not

  • We declare what is real.

The assistant is AI-assisted and says so in its first message. Quotes are indicative until a named human consultant confirms the live price.

  • We never claim a booking.

The assistant does not imply that it booked, held, reserved or paid for anything. A named human consultant makes the booking and takes payment.

  • We label what is unverified.

Anything not verified live carries the label "example, subject to live confirmation". If a fact cannot be checked, we say so rather than filling the gap.

  • We qualify, then hand over fast.

No endless option-generation to look busy. The assistant qualifies your trip and hands you to the human who can actually book it.
